    What you should know about the role

    This position will use energy and drive to help us hire the best and the brightest for Advia Credit Union. This position will be responsible for, sourcing, interviewing and selecting strong candidates into a variety of positions, and also includes participating in job fairs and other outbound recruiting efforts. This position will partner with managers to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of departments and to deliver best talent in the organization.

    As a Recruiting Specialist, you will have opportunities to:

    Major Duties

    • Determines applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; analyzing responses; verifying references; comparing qualifications to job requirements.
    • Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport.
    • Establishes recruiting requirements by undersatnding organization and department objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs.
    • Keeps hiring managers current on progress made towards position fulfillment in a proactive and timely fashion.
    • Maintains and develops professional abilities by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking best practices, participating in professional societies; and otherwise maintaining professional, technical and industry knowledge.
    • Draws on knowledge of employement law and general HR practices as needed to guide and assist hiring managers in candidate selection.
    • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to employment, Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

    Physical Requirements

    Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

     

    Working Conditions

    Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

     

    Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

    Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

    Skills & Experience

    Experience

    Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

     

    Education/Certifications/Licenses

    Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.

    PHR certification preferred.

     

    Interpersonal Skills

    A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

     

    Other Skills

    MUST be familiar with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, EEOC and other federal, state employment laws.

    Must be self motivated and enjoy managing a large workload.

    Must recognize, appreciate and respond in a positive manner to differing personalities and communication styles/preferences.
